Business Development Manager - to fill an empty chair

Job description - Overall Purpose of the Role:
Contribute to the growth of TML by evolving the business development function, identifying new business opportunities and building long-term relationships with clients.

Dimensions of the Role:
Annual new business target TBC.
Clients are marketing, IT or managing directors of small & medium size businesses.

Key Responsibilities:
Engage with clients to understand fully how their website will support their marketing strategies, identifying with their aims and formulating proposals that will help them deliver their business objectives;

Conduct background research to support client proposals, seeking recommendations from the technical team regarding improvement to clients' existing websites. Develop proposals based on indicative costs from technical team;

Work closely with the technical team to identify the best solutions for clients, providing direction for them and communicating a clear brief so that they fully understand what the client is aiming to achieve;

Assist in project handover to the technical team for programming and maintain a customer facing role to ensure that the client has continuity throughout the project;

Retain a customer facing role with past clients to maintain relationships and identify further business opportunities.

Act as an ambassador for the business, from opening doors and qualifying leads to presenting proposals and supporting project delivery.

Contribute to the marketing and sales strategy and ensure its implementation via such channels as direct mailings, telesales, exhibitions and networking events. Ensure that potential leads are qualified and followed up to convert them to new business, targeting the commercial side of potential client businesses.

Support the Managing Director & Commercial Director in developing strategic partnerships with clients and ensure that the business pipeline is fuelled.

Essential Experience
• A minimum of three years business development/ sales & marketing experience
• A track-record of generating new business
• Service industry experience

Desirable
• Previous experience in a Web agency
• Experience of small & medium-sized businesses; understanding of their structure & priorities
• Web & new media experience
• Line management

• Writes fluently and produces well-presented proposals and correspondence
